Over the past week I’ve gained over 800 new Facebook fans and have had over 300 comments, to which I am immensely grateful for. I’ve also had quite a few comments, emails and messages asking me for how-to’s, supplier information and various tips on their cake pops.
I’m so humbled that people find my work good enough to want to see more. I LOVE that my work can serve as a point of inspiration. However, I’d like my work to stay as that-inspiration. My branding and business model does not include posting tutorials on my cake pops and cake ball cakes, nor disclosing where I obtain my supplies. There are other cake poppers (such as blogger, Bakerella) that are transparent in their work and share their tips and tricks, which I completely appreciate. That’s just not how I choose to operate, and while I know some people may not agree or like it, all I ask is that you respect my choice. If you are a cake popper, baker, or cake artist, I hope you thrive, succeed and find your way to mastering every technique you try.
Again, I am so grateful that people find beauty in what I do. Thank you so much for wanting to take your time to read this and for looking through photos of my work.

All is fair in business my dear. I respect your decision and applaud you for it. If you do not keep some things to yourself how can you continue to stand out like you do? We are in a bare all internet society and some may think you are being harsh. Look at it like this: remember those secret recipes that grandma had? She only shared them with you and your family. If you gave it out to everyone it wouldn’t be special anymore and no one would ever ask you to make that thing you make. Some secrets make you famous:)
For those of you who didn’t have a secret recipe keeping grandma, I am sorry you missed out. Mine almost made me swear on a bible over certain recipes!
Thank you so much! I love your analogy
You couldnt be more right if you tried. my recipe keeping grandma passed on hers to those who had children, and cooked in her kitchen.
My mother did the same, but i was not allowed to cook and did not get a single recipe, but was given to my sister-in law with 6 kids. she is not saying a word!
the recipes i have learned came from cooking sites, but they are never and never will be, as good as the recipe my mom/gramma took to the grave with them!
So i understand wholeheartedly!
Thats very honest and totally aprecaited! Cake Balls are not an easy feat… I can just admire your work for hours upon hours and hopes that one day i too can master it.. Till now, ill just admire
Congrats on your wonderful success <3
Thank you!!! I really appreciate the kind words!
GOOD FOR YOU!!!!! We own a business as well and while it is not being mean or rude, you have gone through everything to get to where you are and somehow you just do not want to tell everything! If people do not like it – oh well, you won’t miss them. Congratulations on your wonderful work!!
Thanks Bunny! I really appreciate the kind words!
Thank you for having the guts to post this. I have a small cake ball business and have spent hours upon hours perfecting, researching, creating, destroying, etc…and it always amazes me when I get asked for tips from people who just assume that it is “that easy”… I’m a “big-pie” type of person, however…when it comes to something that I’ve created from scratch, with countless hours and tears…others need to spend their own time figuring it out for themselves as well.
THANK YOU! It was a scary decision to post this!
You have got to protect your livelihood because if everyone were able to do the amazing work you do it would jeapordize your family. Good for you for standing up for yourself and being extremely polite in addressing that you don’t just live as an open book with your business to everyone who wants to poke around. I’m behind you 100%!
Thank you so much for understanding! Xo!
I “get it” and just appreciate all the “eye candy”!
Thanks, Sue!!!!!
