Energy Bites

My friend, Ana, has to be one of the healthiest people I know. She eats a primarily raw diet, works out constantly, and really researches what goes into her body-and yes, she is gorgeous, and tiny, and kind, and perfect. She’s THAT girl. She even makes her dogs’ food from scratch and they are beautiful!

A few weeks ago she gave me “Energy Bites”. They’re little balls of healthy deliciousness that really do taste amazing! They take no time to whip up and are made of ingredients really easy to find (I got all of them from Trader Joe’s).

The original recipe is from Life Tastes Like Food, which is a great blog. Her original post has a breakdown on all the benefits of each ingredient, and I highly recommend you read it, because knowledge is power and you can be the know-it-all the next time someone asks you why sunflower seeds are good for you (“BECAUSE I SAID SO!”). I did modify the recipe a little because I am incapable of leaving things as they are.

You should make these because they are awesome and really easy to take with you on a hike…from the fridge to the couch.

Energy Bites

Energy Bites/Energy Spheres (Because “Energy BALLS” sounds, well…you know)

  • 1 1/4 c. Raw Almond Butter (not pictured. I have no excuse)
  • 3/4 c. Old Fashioned Oats
  • 1/4 c. Raw Cacao Powder
  • 3/4 c. Ground Flaxseed
  • 1 T. Chia Seeds
  • 1/4 c. Raw Sunflower Seeds (Sometimes I use raw sliced almonds)
  • 1/4 c. Organic Raw Honey
  • 1/4 c. Chopped Dried Fruit
  • 1 t. Vanilla Extract/Vanilla Bean Paste/ Vanilla Beans. Take your pick.

Mix it all up and form into 1.5″ spheres. Store in the fridge.

Go forth and pretend to be healthy!!!
